Here are a few photos sent in by Bill H, one of our members. Bill received a call from a farmer who discovered these bees while cutting firewood. The hollow section is 20″ at the bottom, 16″ at the top and just about five feet tall — weighing in at over 300 pounds! Bill is working on transitioning the colony into a Warre hive which can be seen in the photos.

Hey Bill-
How did you encourage them to voluntarily move from the tree to the hive?
How is the colony doing now?
